"Build Your Future" in marginalised communities – How entrepreneurship empowers young people to bring about change
How can the current entrepreneurship boom benefit young people who never went to business school? How can young people become actors of change in their communities and develop workable solutions that are both profitable and socially oriented? This session brings together the participants of the project "Build Your Future" to discuss challenges, best practices and open questions. The project ran from 2015 to 2017 in Croatia, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Slovakia and Spain, with over 200 young people completing an entrepreneurship course. The aim was to make the course accessible to groups of disadvantaged young people, combine entrepreneurship theory with empowerment practice, and strengthen local entrepreneurship culture. Local cooperation was enhanced through Entrepreneurship Labs, which brought participants together with municipalities and entrepreneurs. The remaining question is: how can social entrepreneurship learning for young people help to create a fair and social Europe for the most disadvantaged young people?
