Europe champions youth-friendly local communities

Tuesday, 28.03.2017 • 17:00 h • District Youth Office of Steinfurt, City of Helsinki

"Youth-friendly local communities": Supported by the youth strategy 2015-2018 of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, 16 model communities across Germany are trying out ways to open up local politics to the needs of young people. How can local communities turn themselves into attractive places for young people by involving them in decision-making processes? This is a question that local communities in other countries are also asking themselves. How can collaborative projects between young people and politicians in a community be developed and organised? To find out, the YEPP International Resource Centre launched its project "Dream Machine – Partnerships and Youth Initiatives for Community Development" in six different countries.

At the workshop, local community representatives from Germany, Italy and Finland will discuss strategies for more youth equality, practical input from the Dream Machine project for youth participation, and the general question of how support from Europe can contribute to better youth equality.
