European youth work: Towards the 3rd European Youth Work Convention
The event will summarise the key messages as adopted in the declaration of the 2nd European Youth Work Convention in 2015 in Brussels, and will also cover related policy documents of both the European Commission and the Council of Europe, in particular the European Union Youth Strategy 2010-2018 and the recommendation on youth work that is to be adopted by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. Special emphasis will be put on policies that safeguard and actively support youth work at all levels and on a coherent skills framework for the education and training of youth workers. Participants will discuss how policies and recommendations have been and will be put in place and which relevance they have for youth work at all levels – European, national, regional and local –, in various youth work settings (volunteering, non-formal learning, open youth work, international youth work, youth social work, etc.), and for various youth work providers (youth NGOs, public services, youth clubs and centres, youth information services, etc. Finally, the event will look ahead to the 3rd European Youth Work Convention, scheduled for 2020, and highlight potential hot topics to be discussed.
